Editorial policy
How we decide what to publish, how it's checked, and how we keep commercial interests out of our conclusions.
Our standards
Before any article that appears in search engines is published, a human editor checks that:
- every factual claim has been checked against a source;
- every link has been opened and confirmed;
- the article adds at least one thing AI can't produce on its own — working code, a real test or benchmark, original screenshots, original data, or a genuine argued opinion;
- the headline accurately describes the content;
- opinion is clearly separated from fact;
- any sponsorship or affiliate relationship is disclosed;
- the byline, reviewer, publication date and sources are shown.
A quick skim does not count as review for these articles.
Articles and briefs
Articles (guides, comparisons, reviews, analysis, news explainers and opinion) receive the full review above. Briefs are short, fast takes on breaking news. Each brief gets a quick human check before publishing, is clearly labelled “Brief”, carries no advertising, and is not submitted to search engines. If a brief becomes something substantive, we expand it into a fully reviewed article.
What we never do
- Fabricate interviews, benchmarks, anecdotes, sources or screenshots.
- Claim hands-on testing that didn't happen. A verdict score always means we tested the product ourselves.
- Publish unverified allegations about people or companies.
- Give investment, medical, legal or financial advice. Coverage of AI companies is about their technology and economics, not stock picks.
Opinion
Opinion pieces are labelled “Opinion” wherever they appear, and argue a position the author holds. They still rely on accurate, sourced facts.
Sponsored content
Sponsored articles are labelled as advertising at the top of the page, name the sponsor, and use
rel="sponsored" links, in line with the UK CAP Code. Sponsors may suggest a topic. They do not approve,
edit or receive the article before publication, and we never guarantee a favourable conclusion.
Affiliate links
Some comparison and review pages contain affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Pages with affiliate links say so above the fold. Commission never influences our rankings or verdicts, and we include products that have no affiliate programme.
Use of AI
We use AI tools for research and first drafts. A human editor reviews everything. See how we use AI.
Guest contributors
Invited guest contributors go through the same review process. Links in contributor posts use
rel="nofollow" or rel="ugc". We don't accept payment or links in exchange for publishing.
Corrections
We fix errors quickly and openly. See our corrections policy and log, or email tips@mavday.com.
